Manufacturing in Milwaukee: Declining industry or booming business?

 

Milwaukee and manufacturing are practically synonymous. While our economy has steadily diversified over the past 50 years, the manufacturing sector continues to have an outsized impact on our entire economy. In addition to globally headquartered manufacturers, the region is home to hundreds of small and mid-size suppliers to those firms. Milwaukee has the 2nd highest concentration of manufacturing job among large U.S. metros.
