Race in the Workplace: A Discussion on Career Mobility for Black & Brown Talent
About This Event
Even as companies have elevated their diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives over the last several years, efforts to create a more welcoming supportive workplace have not always extended to or benefitted the employees most effected by exclusionary workplace practices. People of color are often left behind when it comes to promotions, and this is especially true of Black and Brown workers – 70% of whom are in frontline roles with little to no upward mobility.
McKinsey & Company’s new Race in the Workplace report focuses on the experiences of frontline workers and the unique challenges of Black and Brown people in these roles. The report follows last year’s research, Race in the Workplace: The Black experience in the US private sector, offering a look at the impact of DEI initiatives from frontline to C-Suite.
Join us for this virtual event featuring Monne Williams, McKinsey Transformation Partner, and co-author on the Race in the Workplace (2021, 2022) and Women in the Workplace (2022) reports. Monne is also a core team member of the McKinsey Institute for Black Economic Mobility. She will take us through Race in the Workplace key findings and recommendations, and discuss the outsized impact companies can have on job quality and economic mobility of employees of color by focusings on DEI efforts on frontline workers.
